Instructions for Authors

Article types

The JAST accepts the following article types:

 Journal articles (submission should not be more than 6,000 words, excluding references)

 Professionals in the industry (submission should be at least 600 words)

 Other types of submissions (book reviews, conference papers, and commentaries) should be brief.

Submission requirements

Interested author(s) should send a full paper along with their brief biodata on the highest degree, institution to which attached, position(s), and area(s) of research interests to jasteditor@utech.edu.jm. Papers accepted for publication will be assigned to the April or October issue at the discretion of the Editorial Board. Any writing style (APA, MLA, Chicago & among others) may be used based on author(s) discipline. Author(s) should use Calibri font in 12-point, double spacing in MS Word document, and left align.

 Title page (The front page of the article should include: title of the paper, name, affiliation, postal address, and email for each author.

 Abstract (should be no longer than 250 words & contain the research problem and its significance, the methodology used, key findings, & conclusion).

 Keywords

 Introduction (background, problem statement, purpose of the study, research questions, hypotheses, & significance)

 Body of Paper

 Literature Review

 Methods (may include research design, sample selection, data collection procedures, data analysis, reliability & validity, & ethical issues considered)

 Results (may include response rate, discussion of findings according to research questions/objectives with the literature, support or refute findings, alternative interpretations, & study limitations).

 Conclusion (concluding remarks on major findings & recommendations)

 References in discipline-appropriate style

 Acknowledgements (optional)

 Appendix (optional)

 Each author should submit with their paper a brief profile indicating the highest degree, institution to which attached, position(s), and area(s) of research interests
